My definition of a blog is an online place where you share what is on your mind. So then what do you need to know about blogging?
Keep it simple-If you overthink the language and make your blog too well crafted it may not develop a connection with the reader. You want your content to be the genuine version of you. The reader should like what you have to say not what you want them to buy. Don’t write an encyclopedia either.
Be consistent- Some people blog once or twice a day, but I think they are an exception to the rule. Writing a post for your blog takes no more than 30 minutes a week and is the most effective marketing effort you can make. If you are interesting, then people will want more. If you never publish anything, then you may lose readers over time.
Keep a notepad-In the truck, jobsite, office, etc… you will stay ahead of the competition if you keep a written note of the things you are thinking about. Every single day I am working I certainly think about something related to my career. I simply write the topic down, and turn it into a blog within a few days. If you’re still lost check out this great article from a great site.
Your goal is driving business in the door. With a well written and interesting blog, you will grow your business for free without paying some twit at the YellowPages for an ineffective Pay Per Click campaign.
